Fundamentals of Licensing

Fundamentals of Licensing
By Gregory Battersby & Danny Simon
“Fundamentals” replaces an update of Kent’s original Basics of Licensing book series. More than 20 industry professionals have contributed to this 400+ page work, making it the most complete work ever on licensing. While focusing on trademark/copyright and character licensing, much of its material applies to all IP licensing categories.
In addition to substantially updating the work and describing the industry’s current state and where it is headed, it has added extensive descriptions of all licensing forms, including publishing, non-profits, music, digital, and collegiate sports. Updated royalty rate information is provided, as is information on Common Marketing Funds, social media, public relations, sustainability, ethics, and using technology to facilitate licensing programs. A detailed section is provided on accounting and tax issues involved in licensing authored by the preeminent accounting firm in licensing. Extensive current information is provided for all international segments, including Europe, Asia, Australia, and South America, written by resident experts in these territories. It includes a detailed History of Licensing and a downloadable PowerPoint presentation.
As with most Kent Press publications, it included an extensive downloadable appendix that includes most of the forms a practitioner would need for licensing. It is the perfect book for supporting any licensing course at any level.
